Hillary Cremeens, originally of Ferdinand and now living in Nashville, Tennessee, portrayed the Christkindlmarkt Angel during the event’s annual opening ceremonies Friday night outside of the Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand. Christkindlmarkt Eve event co-organizer Diane Hoppenjans of Ferdinand said the ceremony is a replication of one done in Nuremberg, Germany, where the Christkindlmarkt Angel appears on the church balcony and announces the beginning of the Christkindlmarkt in a similar fashion to how Hillary Cremeens, a Ferdinand native who portrays the angel, did on the steps of the monastery to kickoff Ferdinand’s Christkindlmarkt.
