When three-year-old Hadley Messmer of Ferdinand cried out with fear of facing an inflatable obstacle course alone, her grandfather Jay Messmer of Ferdinand quickly removed his shoes and crawled through a tunnel to comfort her at the 28th annual Birdseye Town Picnic on Friday. As Papaw to four grandchildren, Jay said his favorite part is "just watching them have fun."
