Martin Nolberto Chancho Tipaz prays during the Night Vigil of Adoration at Iglesia Nueva Vida in Jasper on Sept. 22. Martin moved from Santa Cruz del Quiché, Guatemala to Jasper in 2001. Once he started attending Iglesia Nueva Vida, Martin's wife, Ruth, said she noticed a change in his approach toward life as his love for God grew further. Martin puts his life in God's hands and lets God lead him through life.

Martin met Felix at Mor For Less and asked if he wanted to learn more about God, which Felix agreed to. Martin set up a home visit with Felix to help him reignite his love for God. Mario and Martin prayed for Felix's health and recovery from a knee surgery he had on Oct. 8. Martin does occasional home visits in the hopes that people will follow God after sharing God's word with them.

Martin's son, Allen, motivated him to improve his English skills.

Baker's parents, Sandi and John, purchased the garage in the 1990's and after repairing the structure opened the Hillham Garage in 2000. "We looked everywhere when we wanted to buy property," Thelma said. "But it was either a farm or somewhere we didn't want to be until we found here." The first baby born in Dubois County in the new year was Amelia Mudd, daughter of Aaron and Allyson Mudd of Loogootee. She was born at 2:51 p.m. on Tuesday at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. Amelia weighed 5 pounds and 15 ounces and was 20 inches long.
