Joe Lasher, 7, of Evanston, interacts with sled dog, Noggin, during a talk given by three-time Iditarod racer Karen Land of Indianapolis at the Ferdinand Branch Library on Saturday. Land has spent the last nineteen years traveling around the U.S. giving talks about her experiences racing the Iditarod, a one-thousand-mile dog sled race held in Alaska. "I like the idea of kids listening and experiencing something for real," Land said.
