The Dubois County Humane Society allows people to come to the shelter and check out a dog between 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Sundays.Heritage Hills eighth-grader Kylee Appman swam laps during swim practice on March 9 at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City. Kylee's mother Lisa Motteler said she was always an active child and never let her medical condition slow her down. Since she had her Medtronic's Interstim removed last July she has been completely healed and is now an advocate for children and families who are considering a similar surgery. Kylee said she is grateful that she's able to help families who are going through the same decision process she did. "I wish I had had that kind of help when I was going through it," she said.

The event offered participants a variety of hands-on workshops to choose from including robotics, cooking and entomology.
